Re: Team v Hull
Defo the same as Tueday with Morgan in for Jarvis, though I fear it will be Nolan.

Was hoping the cyclist hit by the car i nthe other thread was either Jarvis or Nolan, but no such luck.

Re: Team v Hull
Agreed. Apart from fucking Reid. I don't care how fit he is.

Re: Team v Hull
I'd put Reid in just to give Tomkins or Collins time to recover from Tuesday.

Re: Team v Hull
Can't argue with that team.

Maybe Reid if Collins or Tomkins are carrying anything

Re: Team v Hull
Good team Justin, but Nolan will be in the starting line up, you know it.
I thought he had a good game against Everton but taking him off was probably to rest him for Hull. He should be a super sub (super haha yeah right) and not starting but that has been discussed at length on here multiple times.

As long as Jarvis is not playing, unless as a sub in order to get some poor sod to buy him January.

Agree on not playing Reid. Hopefully Song will look fitter than he did this week.

I've got no problem with Reid playing. I think he has remained professional throughout

Short memories, you fellas......Adrian's our new striker!

Re: Team v Hull
As poor as Song was fitness wise (suffering after effects of virus apparently) he still managed to be our most creative midfielder threading some decent slide rule passes to create chances. He also screwed up a few which is unlike him but again he was under the weather and you could see it with the lack of strength on the ball and in challenges. But, like I say, we missed the creativity he provided when he went off (which he had to by the way).

Sir Alf 10:51 Fri Jan 16
Re: Team v Hull
I should have said most creative over first 2 thirds of the game as Downing did come into things more after a quiet as the game moved into the final third and thru extra time.

Re: Team v Hull
I fear that with all Allardyce's comments about keeping a clean sheet he will go ultra defensive.
All the pundits seem to agree that when we go 1-0 up we fall back and try Allarydce's way. This is to stop the other team playing so not to concede. This using the same method has been proven not to work but he still keeps trying it. Expect a dull 0-0 or 1-0 or a another last minute equaliser 1-1.
BFS also expects Hull to go 3-5-2. Expect the same from him.

If we play Justin's XI, an easy and exciting win should easily happen

Re: Team v Hull
On the WHO poll, 83% think we're going to win.

WHO's confidence has officially entered the stratosphere.

Re: Team v Hull
Indeed Coffee. The expectation levels never cease to amaze me especially now we are not in a relegation concerned season (a rarity itself). If you look at the performances recently, we have maintained the levels of commitment and effort but I think our early season success was noted by other teams and managers and they are now setting up much better to negate our strengths.

Downing is getting more attention and teams, at UP especially, are sitting deeper with more behind the ball and working on limiting Jenkinson and Cresswell's delivery from the flanks. Of course, not having the Valencia / Sakho mobility up front is missing now but Carroll and Valencia seemed at last to be "connecting" as a duo in the week.

Hull have a lot of injuries so the simplistic thinking is that us coming off a euphoric victory (albeit not that convincing against 10 men at home), we will simply coast to victory. After 55 years of watching West Ham and in light of the thin margins in the modern premiership, outside of the top 4 or 5 clubs, no fixture is easy and you have to perform close to your best or have a huge slice of fortune to win.

Team wise I would like:
Adrian
Jenkinson Tomkins Collins Cresswell
Amalfitano Noble Song
Downing
Carroll Valencia

I expect Nolan will start instead of Amalfitano though. Poyet would be another I would like to see get some minutes on the pitch.

Like I say, another tough game that we may struggle with.
